Stratus Environmental have submitted a planning application to Conwy County Borough Council on behalf of WRG for the development of a Materials Recycling Facility at Llanddulas Quarry Landfill Site, Abergele.

The development will comprise an MRF, a waste transfer station and a road sweeper waste recycling facility which will accept and treat up to 110,000 tonnes per annum of municipal and commercial and industrial waste collected from households and businesses of North Wales.

The development will create up to 55 temporary jobs during the construction phase and up to 15 full time jobs once operations commence.

Stratus Environmental was responsible for preparing the planning application which comprised a Supporting Statement, Design and Access Statement and Technical Appendices. The development was screened and considered 'non-EIA development' by the Local Planning Authority.

In addition to the preparation of the planning application Stratus Environmental performed a lead role in community consultation and stakeholder engagement preparing the display boards, leaflets and supporting WRG at the public exhibition held near the site. The exhibition was attended by many local school children wishing to learn more about the project and recycling in general.
