Stratus Environmental has secured planning permission on behalf of Sirius SBC Renewables for the development of a 3.5MWp solar park on land at Corntown Farm near Bridgend, South Wales.

The solar farm extends to some 8 hectares on lower grade agricultural land to the south of the A48 and approximately 2km south of Bridgend Industrial Estate. Development of the site for renewable energy production will offer the potential to reduce Carbon Dioxide production by some 30,500 tonnes over the life of the project.

Stratus Environmental were responsible for preparing the planning application and supporting environmental assessments which included Landscape and Visual Impact Assessment, Archaeological and Ecological Studies. Stratus also managed the stakeholder consultations which included discussions with the relevant community council.

Stratus are currently exploring the potential to supply local businesses with low carbon renewable energy from the solar farm.
